Staying at hotel in Needles Fri night as well, see you on Sat. Gas up in Nevada though, it's a buck / gallon cheaper over there. ;)

Speaking of gas... John, I know you recommend bringing 5 extra gallons on this trail, surely due to its overall length and remote location. OTOH, I hate carrying a can full of gas inside my Sport (don't have a way of securing it outside), unless absolutely necessary. As you and others have been down this trail in the past, what are the chances we may need to use those cans? Like all Land Rovers my baby gulps fuel like there's no tomorrow, but it should easily handle 140 miles in the boonies on a tankful, unless it's 140 miles of treacherous, uphill rock crawls. ;)

Umberto
the trail is sand/dirt, Last yr a couple of LR3's stopped off at goff to fill up, not sure what they started with though. i will probably take 10g anyway, the classic does use it up on this trail.
No major ups and downs, just dirt/sand and some deep ruts.
You should be ok, but you never know!

Umberto,

Myself and another rover filled up in Goff (although i think I read on other boards that the station had been closed - not sure if that was temporary or what).

We should be fine, filling up at Avi - I think we ran into issues the last time if we drove the full length across soda lake but it seemed to be Ok. I'm not bringing additional gas either. If we run low, we can use some of John's...
