In the vein of more social events where people can come out for an hour or so to just shoot the breeze I'm going to start a meet and greet on the first Saturday of the month at Lucky Baldiwns Trappiste Pub & Cafe. Being that this Saturday is the first Saturday of the month we shall start this weekend. I'm figuring a couple of hours in the morning, from say around 10 am to noon. They serve a decent breakfast and have plenty of seating inside, as well as a patio area outside.

For those not familiar with the area they are located on the south side of Colorado Blvd east of Pasadena City College between Allen and Meridith. They have a parking area behind that you enter off of Meridith and there is usually street parking on Colorado as well.

In the spirit of Field of Dreams and the "if you build it, they will come" mentality I will be there a bit before 10 Saturday morning to have breakfast regardless. I'll try to get some street parking so look for my shed out front, if not look in the back lot and I'll wear some sort of SCLR shirt or jacket. Hope to see you there!

Thanks Jake. I have been wanting to check this place out. I can't make it this weekend but I'll be there next month.

Where are you planning on taking it? I know they give the test on the second saturday of the month at Huntington Hospital. My FIL got his ticket at that one. Now he's gone full HAM nerd, gotten his extra class license and has an HF rig set up in his shed. Here's the link to the Pasadena one next weekend if the one you were planning on going to this Saturday is further away: www.arrl.org/exam_sessions/pasadena-ca-91105-3010-48

I cross posted this on the Defendersource forums as well. Have a little bit of interest there. One of the guys there is bringing his recently imported ex-military Australian Perentie 110. They are neat trucks and it will be cool to check out one in person. The Perenties were 110's built for the Australain military with a full galvanized chassis and an Izusu 4BD1 diesel motor. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land_Rover_Perentie

So it is actually at 10:00am. www.arrl.org/exam_sessions/los-angeles-ca-90043-2618-76

I might be able to take it the following weekend instead. It depends on what time my wife's baby shower starts.
