Yes the Mojave Road, we have all seen it on the Instantgram and Youtubes, every Overlander from Southern California has taken their team of overlanders on this ribbon of dust. It is a popular trail and for good reason. First off the scenery is amazing. Second, there are lots of historical sites and quirky roadside attractions along the way. Third, it's 130 miles of dirt! That's awesome! Where else can you cover that much terrain all on dirt roads? The Mojave Road is a great trail, everyone needs to run it at least once a dozen times.

If there are any Mojave Road purists among us this might not be the best trip for them. While I want to follow the road as much as possible there are a few sights I'd like to see that are not on the exact path of the historic Mojave Road. The route will be catered to the will of the group, if there are any places you would like to see please mention them in the Roverboard Forum Thread. We will try to hit as many cool places as possible.

One cool place I want to see is the Prehn Monument on the east end of Afton Canyon. This monument was built by my wife's great great Aunt & Uncle in 1934. They spent a lot of time wandering around in the desert. I won't provide GPS coordinates for this location and I request that all members of the trip do not record the coordinates of this location. Let's keep it a secret so the crowds don't ruin it.

I'm going to drive out and Friday evening, The luxurious AVI Casino is booked up for the night. I presume the Luke Bryan concert has something to do with it. I am leaning towards staying at the Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall. There is a really nice campsite near the river that I am considering also.
