Ok we are a go for this Saturday. Checked the trail today and is open and dried out.

The trail is in rough shape with many deep ruts so we will have to skip a couple tough off shoots that would not be conducive to a large group with several new people. They were pretty hairy.

Those who feel the need in those locations are welcome to run them and join back up. There are only 2 that we will bypass.

We are meeting at 9:00 AM. Please be on time as we have a larger group. We will be pulling out promptly by 9:30. I know I originally posted departing at 10 AM but with such a large group we will need to get moving.

Trip Difficulty
Easy to Moderate. With some difficult sections that can be bypassed.
This may change and could become more difficult depending on the weather.

It is best to have AT or other off-road tires but you can get by not doing the harder sections with street tires. It is preferred that you do not have sidesteps as they can get bent fairly easy.

Meet Here
Cleghorn Road exit just off the I-15 freeway. Fill up before you arrive, there is a Chevron station 1 mile north of the exit at the 138 and I-15 exit.
Things to Bring
• Water (1 Gal/Person/Day)
• Full size spare tire (preferred but still an option)
• Recovery gear (optional)
• Lunch (will be on the trail around noon) & snacks if you wish.
• Clothing (Warm/Cold and Dry/Wet)
• FRS Radio
• Map of the area (optional)
• GPS (optional)
• Air compressor or tank in case we air down and need to air back up (optional)

Itinerary
After we meet at the appointed location and time we will have a brief discussion of the trail conditions and what to expect including some orientation for newer members. We will depart on the trail no later than 9:30 AM and break for lunch around 12 Noon near Cleghorn Mountain.
Overview of the area

Cleghorn Ridge Trail is a combination of two parallel trails, one difficult and the other easy that intersect at several points. Beginning at the Cleghorn Road exit off the I-15 freeway, this trail offers ridge top views over Mount Baldy and ends at Silverwood Lake, California on Hwy 138

The roughly graded route in this trail is suitable for medium clearance 2WD in dry weather. The US Forest Service has designated this trail as 2N47.

There is a separate 4WD trail (marked as X2W47) that runs parallel to the main route and is smaller. This one intersects the main trail often and has a rating of "difficult". The good news is that drivers are able to view the route beforehand and can choose the sections they want to leave out. The start of the trail has an easy rating which gets tougher as you move towards the top of the Cleghorn Ridge.

Likewise, good to see familiar faces as well as new and prospective SCLR members today (and thank you John for jumping right into the spirit of the club and being instrumental in the successful recovery of the flipped Defender.) Too bad about that, but the most important thing is that nobody got hurt and it was yet another fun and entertaining day otherwise, Cleghorn never disappoints! Great job organizing and leading this trip, Scott.

I almost always fly solo, therefore I get stuck behind the wheel the entire day and only have a chance to take very few pictures when there is a break in the driving action... Here are some photos I took today anyway, mostly of my "tail end" buddies. Check out the air time of some of them!
