Goler Gulch February 28 2009
The Goler Gulch trip was great, and the weather couldn't have been better. After a brief driver's meeting, I led the group up the 14 highway to the Red Rock Canyon trail head. We had 14 trucks participate on the run, first to the Old Dutch Cleanser mine. From there we ran the back way to Burro Schmidt Tunnel where we had lunch after exploring the mine.
We then headed over to Goler Gulch where everyone made it over the one rock obstacle with no problem. Again, the LR3s and John's Range Rover had a chance to play with the dialable air suspension. And thanks to Mark for his custom-made, supremely engineered Air Suspension Setting device. It appeared to work like a charm.
Once through Goler Gulch we made our way up to Government Peak and got to the top just before dark. As darkness settled in, we headed over to Randsburg Mojave Road. On the way, I made one minor left turn which ended up being a mistake. Every one turned around successfully and then headed down the hill the right way.
Once on Randsburg Mojave road, we said our good-byes as a number of members headed east to the 395 to head home. The rest of us ran through California City to Mojave where we had a great Italian dinner before heading home.
Thanks to everyone for coming along, and thanks in advance to members who can post some photos of the trip.
